Originally from south-east Australia, Melissa Douglas is a pianist, composer and piano teacher. She was the recipient of the RNCM Patricia Cunliffe Composition Prize (2015) and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust Award (2014). She holds a Bachelor of Music (Piano/Composition) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and went on to complete her MMus in Composition with Distinction at the Royal Northern College of Music (2014-16). Her piano piece, Solo Gratia, performed by Grace Francis, was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in 2015 and digitally released on Launch Music International and iTunes. She has many years of professional teaching experience and also has experience running music workshops in schools. Her compositions have received performances in the UK, Australia and Europe. Alongside teaching and composing, she accompanies for ABRSM and Trinity examinations.
